I’m a historical fiction author with a lifelong obsession with books, a decades-long career in education, and a childhood rooted deep in the Blue Mountains bush.
Growing up in the tiny town of Warrimoo, my childhood felt like a storybook from another era (complete with steam trains blowing black smoke over fresh laundry and surviving terrifying bushfires!).
Life in the bush with my school teacher dad, glamorous mum and two younger sisters was a mix of beautiful and intriguing moments.
Eventually, I left the mountains to board in Bathurst and study primary education. The moment I stepped into my first classroom, I knew I was born to teach.
Mind you, teaching in the 1970s required serious survival skills! Without modern technology, I had to rely entirely on my own wits -turning my writing, amateur acting experiences, and dramatic storytelling into my primary teaching tools.
After decades in classrooms, I went back to study and spent my final years in education as a teacher-librarian, landing right back where my obsession with books first began.
When I’m not typing away at my next book, you can find me in my Sydney kitchen with a view of the harbour practicing my other passion: "cooking and entertaining" (which is just a fancy way of saying eating and drinking).
